“I am coming soon. Hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown.” – Rev 3:11 (ESV)
Christ’s word to the church in Philadelphia is an urgent, affectionate command: hold fast. They are a church with little power — no spectacular gifts, no impressive platform — but they have kept His word and not denied His name. That is enough. The crown is already theirs; the danger is not failure to earn it but the failure to hold on to it. ‘Seize’ implies an active adversary who wants to take what is yours — the enemy of souls whose primary strategy is not frontal assault but the slow loosening of our grip. Perseverance is the discipline of tightening our grip on what we have received — the Word, the name of Jesus, the faith delivered to the saints — in the face of every pressure to open our hands.

What specifically do you need to hold fast to right now — a doctrinal conviction, a relational commitment, a spiritual practice — that is under pressure to slip from your grip?
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, You are coming soon. I hold fast — to Your Word, to Your name, to the faith You have entrusted to me. I will not let the adversary seize what You have given. Come quickly. Amen.
