FIRE AND WIND REVIVAL

Come hungry. Leave burning. Be the wind-carried flame.

The Sword of the Spirit

“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” – Eph 6:17 (ESV)

In the full armor of God, only one piece is an offensive weapon: the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Every other piece of armor is defensive — belt, breastplate, shoes, shield, helmet. But the Word is the weapon with which we advance. The Greek word used here is not logos (the general Word of God) but rhema — the specific, spoken word applied to a specific situation. This is the Word wielded by Jesus in the wilderness against the tempter: ‘It is written.’ Not a general affirmation of Scripture’s authority, but a specific word deployed against a specific attack. The Christian who has hidden much Scripture in their heart has a full arsenal; the Christian who has memorized little is fighting barehanded.

Reflection:

When spiritual attack comes — temptation, doubt, fear, deception — do you have specific Scripture ready to wield, or do you find yourself reaching for a sword that is not yet in your hand?

What specific Scripture do you need to sharpen today?

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, put the sword of God’s Word in my hand. Give me specific verses for specific battles. I want to wield Your Word the way Jesus did — precisely, confidently, and effectively against every attack. Amen.
