“Then they were each given a white robe and told to rest a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers should be complete, who were to be killed as they had been.” – Rev 6:11 (ESV)

The martyrs under the altar cry out: ‘How long, O Lord?’ — and God’s answer is not an explanation but a gift and a timeline. They receive white robes — full acceptance, full honor — and are told to rest a little longer. The waiting of heaven is not anxious or purposeless; it has a reason (until the full number is complete) and is accompanied by rest and dignity. This is the model for our waiting: we are not waiting in a queue without assurance — we are waiting with the robes of righteousness, honored by God, resting in His sovereign purpose. The ‘how long’ of our waiting is always answered the same way: a little longer, until the purpose is complete.
Reflection:
In your season of waiting, have you received the ‘white robe’ God offers — the assurance of His acceptance and the dignity of His purpose — or are you waiting in anxious uncertainty as though the outcome is in doubt?
Prayer:
Lord, even in the waiting, You give me the white robe of Your acceptance. I rest — not because the waiting is over but because I am honored and held in the waiting. A little longer. Your purpose will be complete. Amen.
