FIRE AND WIND REVIVAL

Come hungry. Leave burning. Be the wind-carried flame.

Good to Give Thanks

“It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name, O Most High.” – Ps 92:1 (ESV)

The psalmist declares that thanksgiving is good — not merely commanded but intrinsically good, beneficial, the right response to reality. The Hebrew tob means pleasant, beautiful, fitting — gratitude to God is the appropriate posture of a creature before its Creator, a recipient before its Giver. There is also a psychological and spiritual goodness to thanksgiving: it reorients the soul from self-preoccupation to God-orientation. Research in human psychology has consistently confirmed what Scripture declared millennia ago: grateful people are healthier, more resilient, and more relationally connected. Gratitude to God is not only theologically correct — it is the most life-giving posture available to a human being.

Reflection:

Have you experienced the inherent goodness — the spiritual and emotional benefit — of consistent gratitude to God?

What happens to your interior life when gratitude is practiced regularly versus when it is neglected?

Prayer:

Lord, it is good to give You thanks. Not just commanded — genuinely good for my soul. I choose this good thing today. Let the practice of thanksgiving reorient my heart from self-preoccupation to wonder at Your goodness. Amen.
