“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” – Matt 7:7 (ESV)
Jesus arranges these three verbs in ascending intensity — asking is the simplest gesture of need; seeking involves active pursuit; knocking implies persistence at a closed door. Each verb carries a corresponding promise: given, found, opened. The Greek tenses are present imperative — keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking. This is not a vending machine theology in which the right prayer produces the right result; it is a description of relational persistence with a Father who responds. The context makes clear that the Father gives good gifts — not everything requested, but what is genuinely good. The call is to bring our needs boldly, persistently, and trustingly to a God who is not reluctant to give.
