You Have Not Grown Weary

“I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name’s sake, and you have not grown weary.” – Rev 2:3 (ESV)

Christ’s commendation to the church of Ephesus includes this remarkable phrase: you have not grown weary. In a book filled with warnings and calls to repentance, this affirmation stands out. Jesus notices patient endurance. He sees the bearing up that happens in obscurity — the faithful Sunday school teacher who has taught for twenty years, the intercessor who has prayed for decades for an unsaved spouse, the caregiver who has served without relief. Heaven is paying attention to what earth overlooks. The perseverance that feels invisible is seen by the One whose commendation matters most. Do not grow weary — the Witness of your endurance is Christ Himself.

Is there an area of patient endurance in your life that feels unseen and unappreciated by those around you? 

How does Christ’s attentiveness to endurance — His ‘I know’ — speak to that feeling?

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, You see my endurance even when no one else does. That is enough. I bear up for Your name’s sake — not for human recognition. Be my witness and my reward. I will not grow weary. Amen.
