Power to the Faint

“He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.” – Isa 40:29 (ESV)

Isaiah writes to a people in exile who are exhausted — ‘Why is my way hidden from the Lord?’ they ask. And God’s answer is not explanation but empowerment. He gives power to the faint — not to the strong who need a boost, but to those who have no strength remaining. The Hebrew word for ‘faint’ (yagea) means weary to the point of exhaustion, worn out. God specializes in the exhausted. His strength does not supplement human strength — it replaces it. This is the deepest form of perseverance: continuing not because we have summoned a reserve of willpower but because God has deposited His own strength into our emptiness.

Are you currently faint — genuinely exhausted in your Christian walk?

Have you acknowledged that to God and asked Him to give power to the faint? 

Or are you still trying to persevere on a depleted personal reserve?

Prayer:

Lord, I am faint. I have no might remaining in this area of ___. I stop pretending otherwise. Give me power — Your power deposited into my emptiness. I receive it right now by faith. Amen.
