“For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end.” – Heb 3:14 (ESV)
We return to this verse mid-month not to repeat but to press deeper. Holding confidence firm to the end is not a white-knuckled, self-powered grip on theology. It is the natural, sustained expression of a life genuinely connected to Christ. The vine-branch metaphor from John 15 is helpful: a branch does not grip the vine through muscular effort — it remains attached through organic connection. Our holding firm is the expression of our abiding in Christ — fed by His Word, sustained by His Spirit, connected through prayer and fellowship. The branch that remains connected will not let go because it is drawing life from the source of its endurance.
