“Keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.” – Jude 21 (ESV)
Jude’s command to ‘keep yourselves in the love of God’ is not a command to maintain your salvation — it is a call to remain in the relational warmth of conscious fellowship with God. The love of God is like the sunlight: it is always present, but we can position ourselves in its warmth or step into the shadow of prayerlessness, disobedience, and isolation. Keeping ourselves in God’s love is the practice of all the disciplines — prayer, Scripture, fellowship, confession — that keep us consciously abiding in the love that never stops shining. And the waiting posture (‘waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ’) frames all of perseverance: we wait for a mercy that will complete what grace has begun.

Prayer:
Father, I keep myself in Your love today — through prayer, through Your Word, through fellowship with Your people. I wait for the mercy of Jesus that leads to eternal life. Keep me warm in You. Amen.
