FIRE AND WIND REVIVAL

Come hungry. Leave burning. Be the wind-carried flame.

Sing with Thanksgiving

“Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; make melody to our God on the lyre!” – Ps 147:7 (ESV)

The psalmist connects thanksgiving and music — and it is not accidental. Music is the art form that most fully engages the whole person: intellect, emotion, body, memory. When thanksgiving is expressed through song, it bypasses the merely cerebral and lodges in the deepest places of the person. This is why the church has always sung its theology — the songs we learn in childhood are often the truths that sustain us in old age. The gratitude that finds its way into music becomes more durable than the gratitude that stays in thought. Singing thanksgiving to God is not a performance for Him; it is the full-person expression of a gratitude that mere words cannot contain.

Reflection:

Does music play a role in your personal gratitude to God — not just communal worship but private song?

What song of thanksgiving most fully captures what you want to express to God right now?

Prayer:

Lord, I sing to You with thanksgiving — even imperfectly, even privately, even alone. Let my song be the expression of what my words cannot fully carry. Receive the melody of a grateful heart. Amen.
