Come hungry. Leave burning. Be the wind-carried flame.

If My People Pray

“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” – 2 Chr 7:14 (ESV)

We return to this great prayer promise in August’s prayer context to see what God requires before He acts: humble prayer, face-seeking, and repentance. The sequence matters. Humility precedes prayer — a proud person cannot genuinely seek God’s face because they are still angling for their own. Prayer leads to seeking His face — not just His hand, His face, His personal presence and favor. And seeking His face produces repentance — the turning from wicked ways that clears the path for healing. The promise is national and personal: He will hear, forgive, and heal. This is the most complete prayer prescription in Scripture.

Reflection:

Which element of this prayer sequence is most absent from your practice — humility, genuine face-seeking, or honest repentance?

What would adding that element change?

Prayer:

Father, I humble myself before You. I pray and seek Your face — not just Your blessings. I turn from ___. Hear from heaven. Forgive my sin. Heal what is broken in my life and in the lives of those around me. Amen.
