Glory and Peace Through Christ

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
Luke 2:14 (ESV)

The angels’ proclamation over Bethlehem reveals the heart of the gospel: God’s glory displayed through the gift of peace. Heaven erupts in praise not because humanity has climbed its way to God, but because God has come down to us in the person of Jesus Christ. The birth of Christ is the ultimate declaration that God is at work to restore what sin has broken.

This peace is not merely the absence of conflict; it is reconciliation with God. Through Christ, those who were once far off are brought near. The phrase “those with whom he is pleased” points to God’s grace, not human merit. God’s pleasure rests on those who receive His Son by faith, trusting in His saving work.

The angels remind us that true peace flows from giving glory to God. When God is placed in His rightful position, our hearts find rest. Even in a world still marked by chaos, believers can live with settled confidence, knowing that peace with God has been secured through Christ.

Reflection:
Where are you seeking peace apart from Christ?

How can you give God greater glory in your daily life?

Prayer:
Glorious God, thank You for the gift of peace through Jesus. Help me rest in Your grace and live in a way that honors You. May my life reflect the peace You have given and bring glory to Your name. Amen.
