FIRE AND WIND REVIVAL

Come hungry. Leave burning. Be the wind-carried flame.

A Future Shaped by God

Jeremiah 29:11 (ESV) — “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Israel heard these words while living in exile—far from home, under discipline, uncertain of what tomorrow held. God’s promise didn’t remove their hardship, and it didn’t guarantee immediate relief. Instead, it anchored them in His unchanging character. The Lord was not absent in their suffering; He was actively working through it. His plans were rooted in His covenant love, even when circumstances suggested otherwise.

Often we quote this verse in moments of personal confusion or disappointment, longing for reassurance that God is doing something good with our lives. And that longing is not misplaced. While this promise was given to Israel, its heartbeat is true for every believer in Christ: God’s purposes for His children are never destructive, never random, never without hope. Romans 8:28 affirms this same truth—He is weaving all things for our ultimate good, shaping us into Christ’s likeness.

But the comfort of Jeremiah 29:11 isn’t found in imagining a life free of difficulty. It is found in trusting a God who has already secured our future in Christ. Hope is not a distant wish—it is a settled confidence in the God who redeems, restores, and leads His people with wisdom and faithfulness.

Reflection:

Where are you tempted to believe God has forgotten you? How might your fears shift if you anchored your confidence not in what you see, but in the character of the One who sees the whole story? God’s plans may unfold slowly, but they are never wasted. Trust that He is working—even here, even now—to form Christ in you and to lead you into His good purposes.

Prayer:

Father, thank You that Your plans are rooted in Your goodness and faithfulness. Help me trust You when I cannot see the path ahead. Shape my desires, calm my fears, and anchor my hope in Christ alone. Lead me in Your will today, and let Your purposes be fulfilled in my life. Amen.
