“Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his majesty is above earth and heaven.” – Ps 148:13 (ESV)

Psalm 148 calls the entire creation to praise — sun and moon, stars and sky, sea creatures and mountains, kings and children, old men and young women. Everything that exists is summoned to the worship of a God whose name alone is exalted above all creation. This is the ultimate grounding of gratitude: God is not merely good to us — He is supremely exalted above all creation, the only One whose name is worthy of the praise of everything that exists. Our thanksgiving is not just a personal practice of spiritual health; it is our participation in the cosmic chorus of a creation declaring the worth of its Creator. When we give thanks, we join the oldest and largest choir in existence.
Reflection:
Does your gratitude have a cosmic dimension — a sense that you are joining all creation in declaring God’s worth — or is it primarily personal and private?
How does the cosmic vision of Psalm 148 expand your understanding of what thanksgiving is?
Prayer:
Lord, Your name alone is exalted. I join the cosmic chorus today — sun and moon, mountains and seas, all of creation declaring Your worth. My small voice of thanksgiving is part of something vast and eternal. Receive it. Amen.
